The gardens had flowers, fruits and vegetables
which at the time were considered exotic such as melons and artichokes |

The Gardens were
finished in 1568
and
inaugurated with a great fete together with the
ratification of the peace of Amboise.
Catherine brought the use of utensils in eating,
and gourmet
cuisine from her home country of
Italy. |

Chenonceaux
the village was as were all castles and their surrounding
countryside and lands, the Castle was the fortress, the owner being
the Lord and Master of his or her domain. This particular
castle Chenonceau, was a royal castle and quite famous and was the
'Castle of the Dames' and you can read more here about Henri II and
Catherine de' Medici a very powerful
woman and Diane de Poitiers a rival.
